Wanted – police chaplains in Northamptonshire

Northants Police is inviting people to consider becoming police chaplains. This is not just for Christians or authorised ministers: lay people with the right pastoral skill set are also very welcome to apply.

This is an incarnational ministry, getting alongside people, and being a safe listening ear. It is not, therefore, an opportunity to proselytise or attempt to convert or to speak out about faith.

The commitment is for 2 hours a week at one location (although of course it is recognised that “real life” can knock that commitment off course from time to time);  all reasonable expenses are paid with mileage paid at 45p per mile.

There is a requirement to attend a one day training course within the first year and there are fellowship and training mornings about three times a year which chaplains are encouraged to attend.

Anyone wishing to apply to become a police chaplain has to undergo full vetting (this is more than enhanced DBS) and must be prepared to disclose all relevant information in order for this to be achieved.
